Patients have a tremendous amount to offer as research partners and participants. With the creation of a new national community of kidney patients, they now have a place to turn for connections and opportunities.

Last month, Can-SOLVE CKD led the official launch of a National Patient Network that will support increased involvement of patients in kidney health research across Canada. This network connects “research curious” patients with emerging research opportunities, peer mentorship, and educational resources.

More than 50 patients, family members, caregivers, and donors reflecting Canada’s immense geographic diversity came together at two kick-off webinars in February to learn about the network and how to get involved. Participants learned about Can-SOLVE CKD’s “patient first” philosophy of research and heard from current patient partners about their experiences on research teams. They were also introduced to KidneyLink, an online hub for connecting to kidney health research projects.

All are welcome to join the National Patient Network and become part of the growing community of patients across Canada contributing to innovative kidney health research.
